Banded Carnelian Hearts

Carnelian is often confused with sard, which is reddish brown to brown in color. Carnelian is considered to be carnelian if the stones main color component is red or orange. 

Carnelian's color comes from iron, and it can be easily heat treated to darken red tones. Carnelian likes to be in the sun and close to the earth, so you can activate it by leaving it in a slant of sunshine or place it in the garden for a short period of time.
