Septarian is a concretion, which is a hard, compact mass of matter formed by the precipitation of mineral cement within the spaces between particles. It is found in sedimentary rock or soil, often formed within and carved from layers of limestone sediment. 

Septarian nodules are concretions containing cracks and cavities that were filled in with minerals such as calcite and aragonite. These angular cavities are called septaria and create divisions throughout the stone. When cut and polished, septarian nodules make for interesting display pieces. 

Septarian is said to boost energy. It can be used as an amulet, charm, talisman, decoration, meditative stone, healing stone, aromatherapy, collection, or jewelry accessory.
